Haven’s Kitchen is, according to the New York Times, “…an elegantly designed shop, cooking school, catering kitchen and party rooms on two floors of a 19th-century carriage house in Chelsea…” Haven’s Kitchen has been serving fine food and style to the community for the past year. Energy Services Company, Building Hero, worked with Haven’s and came to Wiedenbach Brown for Soraa Vivid lamps to ensure a successful LED lighting conversion.
Julia Sullivan, operations manager, discussed her experience working with Building Hero on the retrofit: “At Haven’s Kitchen, we are very mission driven. We care about sustainability and wanted to be energy efficient, but as with any company, you have to make compromises when it comes to the business side of things. Both cost and the aesthetics were things we couldn’t compromise on. When Building Hero came to us, we had already been thinking about different lighting options but hadn’t found the right fit. They showed us the Soraa lights, and it was the aesthetics that made the final decision for us. The lights work really well in our retail space, as well as areas with quite a bit of light, like the kitchen. In the dining areas we supplement the LEDs with floor lamps for the atmosphere. We’re not just a store — we’re also a private event space and have to get the right mood for both.”
